Grammy award winning gospel rapper, Lecrae, has christened himself traditional names, ‘Adewale Obinna’ after DNA test revealed that his ancestors are from Nigeria.

The singer in a post on his Instagram page stated that he had a DNA test and the result showed that his ancestors originated from Nigeria.

Sharing pictures of himself clad in traditional outfit (agbada), the American singer christened himself two traditional names, ‘Adewale Obinna’, which is a combination of Yoruba and Igbo names.

The singer who visited Nigeria for the first time, on Friday 16th December, made this known on his Instagram pageHe also shared pictures of himself donned in traditional attire (agbada).

He wrote,

“First time in NigeriaMy DNA test confirms this is one of the countries my ancestors were brought fromI have experienced love like none otherCare, kindness, grace, and loveI came here as LECRAE.
But my Nigerian name is
Adewale Obinna.”
